If, after reading these comments from
people who have ordered dvds from this site, you think
"what they say doesn't matter" - think about this - why would what
people who have ordered over
400 dvds on this site say not matter? Where else can you get this
kind of detailed information about
the fights available on any other website? Maybe you'd rather
just take your chances because
you can save the cost of a hamburger on the dvds you can get somewhere
else!
Does that make sense?

comment on the
video quality ratings and whether they seemed to represent the quality
of the fights you received:
The quality ratings are right on! -
It's very refreshing to read that something is very good and you get it
and bingo! - it's very good! I absolutely love and appreciate the
comments next to some of the bouts - like "a boxing fans dream fight" -
"great action"; or "boring", "so and so ran all night".
enter your thoughts about the
video quality of the fights you have ordered here compared to fights you
have ordered elsewhere:
It's
not so much that there's a difference of video quality as there is in
the quality of the rating - and by that I mean that on all fights there
are ratings of very good or excellent in describing quality of dvd
- when it comes to boxingvideoclassics you're always assured that if it
says very good it IS very good. You never have to worry that what
you bought isn't going to be what you get. Everything I've bought has
been exactly what I expected and has been of the highest quality.
your thoughts
about the editing of the fights in your orders:
The fights are edited beautifully - no action
ever missed.
enter the coverage you usually
prefer on your fights:
Depends on the fight. Some fights I
totally dig the ring walks of each fighter and a nice post show - on
other fights I just want to see the ring intros and once it's over on to
the next.
comment on
the idea that all fights are the same no matter where you get them:
All fights are NOT the same when it
comes to where you buy them from. First and foremost –
boxingvideoclassics is completely trustworthy – you know you’re not
going to get taken for a ride or ripped off or have to wait weeks before
you get your dvd. The other huge issue is quality. I’ve been
burned far too many times from other sellers claiming to have good
quality dvd’s and it just isn’t so – boxingvideoclassics does what it
says – if it’s rated as VG – then that’s exactly what is – no odd
interpretation of it – no having to worry what is meant by VG (very
good) – the standard is what normal people apply to these – you’ll NEVER
get “well – it’s very good for a 1980 fight”
is the
black screen that is recorded before and between each fight a useful
feature?
The black screen is nice in that it
lets you know you're in transition.
enter your
thoughts on the printed jewel case insert with fighters names and dates
of fights:
It's funny - I really like the case the dvds
come in. They stand out in my collection and are the easiest to sort and
file.
enter any comments
about the way the fights were packaged for shipping:
The only thing I can think of as an
improvement is pretty insignificant - but it would be to also include
the number of rounds next to the date - but maybe not everyone would
like that - (this answer refers to the titles on the
jewel case inserts...bvc) example:
Oscar De La Hoya
Vs.
Felix Trinidad
9-18-99 (12 rounds)
respond to the
idea that all fights are the same so price is all that matters:
Like I said above - first and foremost –
boxingvideoclassics is completely trustworthy – no games and no crap.
It’s refreshing to know and trust that you’re not going to get ripped
off – it’s nice to know that your dvds will arrive when you’re told they
will arrive and the quality is what it says it is – no funny business
and no guess work – Good is good – no if, ands or but’s – good means
good – very good means very good – no bizarre interpretation.
You’ll NEVER get “Hey – it IS very good for a fight that took place in
1976 – think about the equipment they had back then”
It does matter where you buy from. The good vendors out there should be
rewarded for having good products and for being from top to bottom
honest.

post any comment on your thoughts regarding paid advertising for boxing
on dvds:
I don’t have any problem with folks
advertising on the web or on boxing sites – or wherever they want –
Occasionally when I see the ads I click on them - just to check
them out – see what fights and prices they have. Most of the time I’m
utterly unimpressed with the sites or with the fights listed – or you
can just sense that it’s junk.
Ultimately I think it’s up to the buyer to be selective and
careful about how he/she spends their hard earned cash. I hate to
sound like a shill for boxingvideoclassics.com – but you’re really not
going to do any better out there – I’ve always been happy buying here.
Always! – and that’s a huge statement when you really think about it.

On video tape it is. It provides a

"good". sent his money order, received nothing, no response to
emails asking status.
is the
black screen that is recorded before and between each fight a useful
feature?
yes.

excellent feature. makes the DVD's stand
out in my collection, can find precise fights I'm looking for instantly.
enter any comments
about the way the fights were packaged for shipping:
always securely packaged and shipped Priority Mail in a timely manner,
usually before quoted delivery time.
respond to the
idea that all fights are the same so price is all that matters:
false. ordered from a less expensive
site ONE time...never did, or will again. like my analogy above,
all auto mechanics are definitely not the same, neither are the boxing
video sites.

suggestions on how this website can be changed to better fit your needs:
i should get a free fight for typing all
this. layout is very well done, easy to navigate, no changes that
i can think of.

undecided.

fights from boxingvideoclassics.com:
BVC has the widest selection I have ever seen
online, particularly older fights. I have visited many sites who's
entire collection is less than one page of BVC's listings. Quality
is always the best possible, delivery is always prompt, best online
purchases I have ever made anywhere.

I did a search for boxing dvds
on a search engine, yahoo I think and the site came up.
enter the
approximate number of dvds you have ordered here:
10 (5 paid, 5 traded)
enter
any comment about the website design and functionality:
The site is
professional and very east to use, plus all the extra little touches
such as advice on calculating fight times were very helpful in getting
started with an initial order.
comment on the
video quality ratings and whether they seemed to represent the quality
of the fights you received:
Video ratings in my opinion are very
accurate and most importantly honest. Every fight is clearly labelled
with a quality rating so you know what to expect.
enter your thoughts about the
video quality of the fights you have ordered here compared to fights you
have ordered elsewhere:
Fight
quality is superb when ordering fights with a VG rating, G is also
pretty good too compared to if you recorded it yourself at home. Of
course even a G here is far better than the other sites so called
excellent video quality, which generally requires that you squint to
understand what you're watching. One of my first orders for example was
for Larry Holmes vs. Mike Weaver rated VG and I was stunned that a fight
26 years old was so clear and sharp to watch, I have many fights from
the late 1980s that I recorded personally direct from the TV that don't
come close to that level of quality.
your thoughts
about the editing of the fights in your orders:
Great editing, with no mistakes.
enter the coverage you usually
prefer on your fights:
Full coverage all the way for me. I
like my discs presented as though I was watching a live fight bill in my
own home, I feel that it tells more of the fights story and the attitude
to both the fight and the fighters at the time that the fight occurred.
Plus Larry Merchant's notorious interviews and frequently biased post
fight analysis on HBO fights are always worth watching.
comment on
the idea that all fights are the same no matter where you get them:
Total b.s. proven by ordering from
other sites and the deep feeling of rage that follows when you paid good
money for other sites bad dvds. I'm talking about scratched discs, bad
editing, poor packaging and video quality so bad it looks more like a
1970s video arcade game. BVC offers the polar opposite of all that.
is the
black screen that is recorded before and between each fight a useful
feature?
This is a nice touch that nicely
seperates each fight, it just adds a bit of class to the presentation.
enter your
thoughts on the printed jewel case insert with fighters names and dates
of fights:
I love them, I wish all my own dvds had this
touch, plus it makes finding fights very easy within a boxing library.
enter any comments
about the way the fights were packaged for shipping:
Nicely wrapped and packaged to ensure that
the discs arrive safely at the other side, and the postage is always
cheap and fast and I order my fights to the U.K., and they still arrive
in 3-4 business days (including Saturdays in fact).
respond to the
idea that all fights are the same so price is all that matters:
Absurd idea, and people who adopt that
attitude will get exactly what they pay for.

I honestly don't have any ideas for you but if
I think of any I will let you know.
post any comment on your thoughts regarding paid advertising for boxing
on dvds:
Why bother? Proper fight fans will want the
best discs and so will most likely find the time to looks at all the
competition out there. Plus if you are reading this then you have no
excuse not to order a sample disc to see what all the fuss is about. I
advise any doubters to place a small order with mulitiple boxing dvd
sites and see what each sends you in exchange for your money.
enter your opinion about career sets sold by others :
Mass produced crap, I swear they are running
off 50 copies at a time and standard career sets allow them to produce a
uniform product. Plus those kind of fights offer very limited fight sets
anyway. At BVC you have thousands of fights to chose from and can pick
all the fights that you want.

add any
additional comments you would like regarding your experience ordering
fights from boxingvideoclassics.com:
I love the fact that every fight recorded
personally by BVC was recorded in SP mode and that does make a
difference from my own 20 years of recording boxing.

surfing the net and discovered the site by accident.

enter
any comment about the website design and functionality:
What I like about
the website is the ratings and comments. Most other collectors
don't rate their videos. Instead you must ask. The comments
sometimes help me select fights I'm unfamiliar with.
comment on the
video quality ratings and whether they seemed to represent the quality
of the fights you received:
For the overwhelming majority of
videos, the quality ratings are very accurate. There have been a couple
of occasions when I received a video that was worse than I expected and
a couple of occasions when it was better than expected. Obviously,
the ratings are subjective but they are pretty accurate in my estimation.
enter your thoughts about the
video quality of the fights you have ordered here compared to fights you
have ordered elsewhere:
In
general, the videos are better. The fights are very professionally
done and even the case is attractive.
your thoughts
about the editing of the fights in your orders:
For the most part it's fine. However, I
understand the editing is done in a uniform way. People choose how
they want to edit the tape and that's the way its done. But some
other collectors know that an interview or something else is interesting
and will include it. I may never have known about that interesting
part and would miss it if I just ordered say, intros to decision.
enter the coverage you usually
prefer on your fights:
Ring introductions to decision.
comment on
the idea that all fights are the same no matter where you get them:
Untrue. This site is consistently
professional and the quality of the videos are as good or better than
most other sites.
is the
black screen that is recorded before and between each fight a useful
feature?
Don't care much about black screen.
enter your
thoughts on the printed jewel case insert with fighters names and dates

Great. Really adds a touch of
professionalism. Most cases look like someone made them in their
garage.
